How your team is, without asking and without drilling into anybody

A leader can read the state of the whole team off one picture. One tap each, added together every half hour and drawn as a sky, with a timeline behind it. No form, no camera, no meeting, and nothing anybody has to remember to update.

And nobody can be drilled into. Casts are blind by default, and there is no setting an owner can flip to change that: no per-person dashboard, no report, no export. That is not a concession, it is what makes the reading worth having — a team that knew the sky could be traced back to them would cast what looks good, which is exactly the problem with asking.

A social network you cannot perform on

No likes. No followers. No comments, no reposts, no ranked feed. There is one thing to do in weathr and it takes a tap: say how you are. That is not a promise about our values, it is what the app is made of — there is no surface to perform on, so nobody has to.

Nothing you say here can be scored, and nothing anybody else says can be scrolled. A group's weather is the only thing there is to look at, and it is made of everyone in it equally.

An app your parents and your children can both read

Five symbols and four levels. Nothing to type and nothing to read: the reading itself has no words in it, so a nine-year-old and an eighty-year-old are looking at exactly the same picture and both of them already know what it means.

It is the same instrument for everybody, too. There is no manager's version and no private dashboard — the group reads what you read.

Somewhere to stay in touch that is not a feed

Weathr is for the people you would text if something happened, and it asks about a minute a day. You look at the sky over your group, you see it has been raining since Tuesday, and you call somebody. That is the whole product.

It does not want your time and it is not built to take it. Casting opens a window during which the group keeps updating for you; when the window closes, weathr stops moving until you say something again. An hour at the shortest and a day at the longest. There is no endless middle to fall into, because there is nothing there.

It works with two people

Most social apps are an empty room until you bring thirty friends. Weathr reads perfectly at two — the weather over you and one other person is a real reading, not a sample too small to draw.

And it is not empty on the day you install it: your street, your city and your country already have weather over them before you have invited anybody.

    One of five symbols, at one of four levels. One tap. You hold one mood at a time and it is the same in every group you are in.

  2. It becomes weather

    Everybody's moods are added together every half hour and drawn as a sky. A group, a channel, a café, a city, a country — the same reading at every size.

  3. Casting keeps it live

    Saying something buys you the moving view for a while. When it runs out the sky freezes until you say something again — which is the only thing weathr ever asks of you.
